Palatine glands

The palatal glands ( glands Latin palatinae ) are small salivary glands in mammals and form a continuous layer beneath the mucous membrane ( submucosa ) of the soft palate and the uvula around. They belong to the " minor salivary glands " ( Glandulae salivariae minores ) and form a mucous ( mucous ) secretion.

In birds, they lie at the mouth of the cave roof and are divided into two groups - Glandulae lateral palatine and palatine glands media subdivided whose excretory ducts are macroscopically visible.
