Palazzo Pubblico (San Marino)

The Palazzo Pubblico in San Marino is also the town hall and seat of the Consiglio Grande e Generale, the Parliament and the government of the small state, the Captains Regent, the Consiglio dei XII and the Congresso di Stato.

The neo-Renaissance palace stands on Monte Titano; it was built in the years 1884 to 1894, his predecessor dates back to the 1380 bis 1392nd One last restoration was completed by Gae Aulenti in September 1996.

The palace is depicted on the reverse of San Marino's two-euro coin.

Statua della Libertà

On the Palazzo Piazza della Libertà the upstream Statua della Libertà is ( Freitheitsstatue ). It consists of white Carrara marble. It is the work of sculptor Stefano Galletti and goes back to a donation of the Countess Otilia Heyroth Wagener from Berlin in 1876. Its design is that of a classical city goddess: it shows a decided forward border warrior. In her left hand she holds a flag, her right before she stretches protectively. On her head she wears a mural crown, a typical symbol of urban self-determination.

The Statue of Liberty is shown on the Sammarinese 2- cent coins.
