Palestine at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Palestine took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, USA with two athletes participate. Israel had protested against the participation under the name Palestine had failed with their protest, however.

It was the first participation for Palestine, after it had been recorded in 1985 in protest against Israel in the Association of Asian Games and 1995 in the IOC. Majdi Abu Marahil, a 32 -year-old long-distance runner, who hails from the refugee camp in the Gaza Strip Nusseirat, was flag carrier. Next to him, nor took part of the Athlete Ihab Salama.
