Palestra Itália Futebol Clube

The Palestra Itália Futebol Clube was a football club based in Curitiba, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The club was founded in 1921 by Italian immigrants. The term Palestra (from Greek palaistra παλαίστρα, Ringer school ') describes in the Italian language a gym. The club colors were the colors of the Italian flag: green, red and white.

In the first year the club reached the runner-up in the Campeonato Paranaense only seventh playout, the state championship of Paraná. Between 1924 and 1932 Palestra could win the title three times in total. 1952 was followed by another runner.

In 1971, the club united with the seven-time state champion Britânia SC and the CA Ferroviário, eight-time champions, the Colorado Esporte Clube was to win the championship in 1980. In December 1989, in turn, merged with the Esporte Clube Pinheiros Colorado today Paraná Clube since even the numerous state titles, especially in the 1990s, won.

The home ground of Palestra Itália was the Estádio Tarumã, which offered some 6,000 spectators place.
