Paliurus

Spina- christi Paliurus

Paliurus is a genus of the family of the buckthorn family ( Rhamnaceae ). It comprises five most native to East Asia species.

Description

Paliurus are always or deciduous, often thorn -bearing shrubs or small to medium-sized trees. The leaves are arranged in three distinctly annoying and alternate.

The flowers are in cymes achselbürtigen. The flower cup is hemispherical to cup-shaped. The fleshy Diskus is adherent to the surface of the intrastaminalen flower cup. The two-to dreifächrige ovary is half inferior. The fruits are dry and have a membranous, disk- to hemispherical wings on, they do not open themselves

Distribution and systematics

Within the buckthorn plants the genus in the tribe Paliurieae is classified. The Paliurus include five species, four in Asia and one in the Mediterranean.
