Espers meadow Argyle syllable Owl ( Panchrysia v - argenteum ), also known as Espers meadow Argyle Gold Owl, is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of cutworms ( Noctuidae ).
Features
Espers meadow Argyle syllable Owl is a medium-sized butterfly with a wingspan from 36 to 44 millimeters from the subfamily of Gold Owl ( Plusiinae ). The moths have reddish brown forewings with a silver-colored characters in the form of a V with an overlying bar. Subsequent strokes or dots are in maroon midfield. In addition, there are several lines that are dark brown, light brown, pink and yellowish. This type differs from the otherwise similar species Ziest - syllable Owl ( Autographa pulchrina ) and iota - syllable Owl ( Autographa jota ).
The caterpillars are green and have one of two bright, strong wavy lines, dark limited topline and bright side ridge lines and yellow side stripes.

Geographical distribution and habitat
Espers meadow Argyle Owl syllable occurs in the entire Alpine region. But except in the Südalpentälern it is quite rare. They are still at heights of 1,400 meters. The distribution extends in a southeasterly direction to Greece. The species prefers dry, warm areas.
Way of life
Espers meadow Argyle syllable owl is nocturnal and also flies to artificial light sources. The females lay eggs on the food plant from from which the caterpillars hatch in September and then feed on the leaves of various plants, such as:
- Wies diamonds ( Thalictrum )
- Wies Argyle Shell Floral ( Isopyrum thalictroides )
They overwinter and pupate mainly in May of the following year. The moths fly from May to September depending on the altitude in two generations.
Endangering
The species occurs in Germany only in Bavaria and is classified in the red list of endangered species in category R ( Extremely rare species or species with geographical restriction ).
