Illyrian Daffodil ( pancratium illyricum )

The funnel daffodils ( pancratium ), often referred to as Pancrazio lilies, are a genus of flowering plants in the family Amaryllidaceae family ( Amaryllidaceae ).

The species of this genus are mainly in the Mediterranean, but also common in the Canary Islands, West Africa and tropical Asia.

Description

Pancratium species are forming perennial herbaceous plants, bulbs as outlasting. The basal leaves are simple, flat, linear and sessile.

One to many flowers are borne in inflorescences doldigen, with two bracts on long stems that are not hollow. The flower stalk is often short. The hermaphrodite, threefold flowers are trumpet-shaped. The six arranged, overgrown, spread bloom ( tepals ) are mostly white. The stamens are fused with the bloom cladding. The almost entire length of cup-shaped fused stamens are only at the top end free. Three carpels are fused into one inferior ovary, which contains many ovules. The thin style ends in a mostly capitate, sometimes three-lobed to - ästigen scar. There shall be insulated draft tube capsule fruits that contain black, angular seeds.
