Panda (band)

Panda ( also pxndx ) is a Mexican punk rock and alternative rock band from Monterrey, Mexico. It is one of the most recognized and popular bands both in Central and in South America.

Band History

The group was formed in 1996 by four friends who did not know their free time to make good use according to own data. At the beginning of her "career" they played their, not specially produced songs in garages and the like.

After several unsuccessful cover versions of famous Latin- American songs, took the four most so-called "Origen " event in Centrito Valle in part, a local singing competition for talented, unknown, young bands whose price it was, a few hours in a professional recording studio to spend. Panda occupied in this competition the first place and started from now on their own style of music in their songs to realize. In addition, they started at other events within Monterrey occur and in that time they released their first demo album titled "Demo 1997 ", consisting of 17 self-produced songs. The national breakthrough Panda in 2002 with their second album " La revancha del principe charro ". In October 2007, published Panda a single titled " Nunca nadie nos Põdra parar " (Spanish for "Nothing and no one can stop us "), which was provided free of charge to fans of the band are available. The new album, titled " Sinfonia Soledad ", was released on 30 November 2007 and is the first live album by the band. Beginning of the year 2009 announced Panda that they are working on a new studio album. This album bears the name Poetics and is first published on September 22, 2009 in Mexico. It includes 20 new songs on 2 CDs have been released in advance of those four singles exclusively on iTunes. The first single " Sólo a terceros " was released in July.

Information on the current members

Jose Madero Vizcaino ( Pepe ) (September 1, 1980 in Monterrey, Nuevo León) is the lead singer and songwriter of the band. He is known equally under the stage name "Pepe" and " Piketon ".

José Madero was already playing at the age of 13 years and guitar from the age of 15 he was a member of various bands. Among other things, a group that appeared under the name "The Purgatory" (1995). The band specialized in particular songs that a partly gloomy and depressed sounding music style persecuted been included in the English language and. That group also belonged to Ricardo Treviño, another founding member of Panda.

Ricardo Treviño ( Rix ) (May 17, 1980 in Monterrey, Nuevo León) is a bassist and guitarist of the band. He was just like Pepe founding member of the band. Jorge Vázquez ( Kross ) (9 February 1981 in Monterrey, Nuevo León) is the drummer of the band.

Arturo Arredondo ( R2D2 ) (March 23, 1983 in Monterrey, Nuevo León)

Arturo is equally bassist and guitarist of Panda. He also played in the band " Súper Azfalto " and is one of the band only since 2004. Prior to his career at Panda he worked as a salesman and waiter.

Criticism

In 2005, voices were raised, some of the songs the band had strong resemblance to well-known songs of other groups. The background for this was in the Mexican newspaper "R & R " published article in which it was alleged, in particular songs from the album " Para ti con desprecio " reported similarity of songs by bands of the same genre on.
