Pangong Tso
The Pangong Tso (Tib.: Spang gong mtsho, lha mtsho mo ngang ring po, Tibetan སྤང་གོང་མཚོ་ མཚོ་མོ་ངང་ལྷ་རིང་པོ, Pangong Tso. ) Is situated 4250 meters above sea saltwater Lake in the Himalayas on the border between India ( Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir ) and China (in the west of the district of Ngari, Tibet). The 134 km long and up to 8 km wide lake is about two-thirds of Chinese territory. He freezes completely in winter.
Pangong Tso is of Indian Leh via Chang La Pass ( 5360 m asl), accessible.
Currently, it is checked whether the lake will fall under the protection of the Ramsar Convention.
