Paolo De Chiesa

Paolo De Chiesa ( born March 14, 1956 in Saluzzo ) is an Italian former Alpine skier. In his special slalom discipline he reached twelve World Cup podiums.

Career

At the beginning of his career, De Chiesa won the gold medal in the slalom at the Junior European Championships 1974 in Jasna. Starting next winter, he was also successful in the World Cup. He specialized primarily on the slalom and won in this discipline not less than 12 podiums -. The first on 17 December 1974 at the 3- Tre race in Madonna di Campiglio, the last on 10 December 1984 in Sestriere A victory, however, was not granted to him. 1974/1975 and 1981/1982 he had his best years and each was fourth in the slalom World Cup. In the giant slalom, he reached several top 10 results only in winter 1974/1975. After the 1985/1986 season, he stepped back.

In his two World Cups he was fourth ( Schladming, 1982) and sixth ( Bormio 1985) in the slalom. In Olympic Games, he remained without result: 1980 and 1984 he left each of the first slalom passage out.
