Paolo Scaroni

Paolo Scaroni ( born November 28, 1946 in Vicenza, Italy ) is an Italian manager.

Life

Scaroni studied economics at the Bocconi University and Columbia Business School. From 1969 to 1972 Scaroni worked for the U.S. company Chevron Corporation. From 1985 to 1996 Scaroni was CEO of the Argentine company Techint. From 1996 to 2002 Scaroni was CEO of the British company Pilkington. From 2002 to 2005 he was CEO of the Italian company Enel. He is CEO of the company since June 2005, Eni.

In 2014 he was sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment was burned in his time as manager at Enel strong sulfur- containing oil in a power plant in the Po Delta. This has led to a substantial increase of bronchial diseases in the area. A report by the state environmental authority quantified environment and human health in the region to 3.6 billion euros. He has lodged an appeal against the verdict announced.
