Papakura District

Papakura is a small town on New Zealand's North Island. Situated in the Auckland region location is the administrative seat of only 123 km ² Papakura District and is now often seen as a suburb of Auckland. For the 32 km south of the CBD located Papakura is the southernmost extent of agglomeration of the metropolis. Papa Kura Māori and means something like " Red Earth", which is due to the fertile soil.

Geography

Administratively adjacent to the south and east of the Franklin district, while joining in the north of the city district of Manukau.

The District of Papakura in the West is geographically surrounded by the southern foothills of the Manukau Harbour, a natural harbor to extends from the Tasman Sea far into the country, and in the far east through the central mountain range of the Hunua Ranges, what the area has a relatively large traffic engineering significance brings. In the district there are no major rivers, the drinking water is obtained from the rain forest areas of the Hunua Ranges. Is or was fertile farmland between these two topographical features. Meanwhile, the formerly living only on agriculture district is increasingly dominated by the ever -expanding urban sprawl of the Greater Region Auckland, although outside of the village can still make to rural areas.

Infrastructure

The town lies on the Auckland -Hamilton Highway, which is a part of the State Highway 1 (SH 1 ), the main trunk road in New Zealand. The city is also connected to an S -Bahn -like rail transport network.
