Papal documents relating to Freemasonry

On June 24, 1717 joined in London four years existing Masonic lodges to the first Freimaurergroßloge, the first Grand Lodge of England together. The rapid spread of Freemasonry soon called forth on the part of the Catholic Church as the state criticism and numerous prohibitions. Thus Freemasonry in the Kingdom of Naples in 1731, in Poland in 1734, in Holland in 1735, in France in 1737, in Geneva, Hamburg, Sweden and the Emperor Charles VI. prohibited in the Austrian Netherlands in 1738 and in Florence in 1739.
