Papillion is a city and county seat of Sarpy County in the east of the U.S. state of Nebraska.

Geography

Papillion is located at 41 ° 9'21 " north latitude and 96 ° 2'27 " west longitude, is located in the extreme east of Nebraska and adjacent to the state of Iowa. History

The name of the place Papillion, which was founded in 1870, dates back to French settlers, since it lies at the Papillion River, on whose banks many butterflies (French papillons ) were found. In particular, large swarms of monarch butterflies were seen there.
