Paramithia (Greek Παραμυθιά, Albanian Ajdonat / -i ) is a district of the municipality Souli in northwestern Greece. By 2010 he was an independent municipality, since 1947 the borough ( gr dimos ); January 1, it was incorporated into the municipality Souli, where she has since formed one of three municipal districts. The local community Paramithia itself has 2,730 inhabitants and is the seat of the municipality Souli.

South of the river Kalama situated at an average altitude of 243 m forms the Paramithia the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Thesprotia. Paramithia is known for its well-preserved Byzantine church of the Virgin Mary. The town is 750 meters high between the rivers Acheron and Kalama.

Paramithia has always been known for its goldsmiths. One of them was Sotirios Voulgaris, who emigrated in 1877 to Corfu and from there only to Naples and then to Rome in 1881. There he opened in Via Sintina his jewelry house Bulgari. It was very successful and in 1905 he could open a new big. To date, the luxury goods manufacturer is family run by the third generation. The building of the old business in Paramithia exists to this day.

Attractions

Paramithia offers several attractions. These include the Byzantine bath, the castle of Elea, famous for its Venetian clock or as the Koulia, a Byzantine tower.
