Parasitaxus

Parasitaxus usta is the only species in the monotypic genus Parasitaxus from the family of Podocarpus plants ( Podocarpaceae ). It is in the IUCN Red List as "vulnerable" ( vulnerable ) out. This species is the only known parasite within the gymnosperms ( gymnosperms ).

Dissemination

Parasitaxus usta is a species endemic to New Caledonia, where they (, Poila Pouebo, Bleue River) occurs very scattered in remote, densely forested areas at altitudes 400-1100 m.

Description

The species grows as an evergreen shrub or small tree, reaching heights of growth of 1.0 to 1.8 m. You parasitized on their roots which also belongs to the podocarps kind Falcatifolium taxoides.
