Parekhi

Parechi (Georgian პარეხი, pɑrɛχɪ ) or Parechta ( პარეხთა pɑrɛχt, ʰ ɑ ) is a medieval Orthodox monastery in the historic Georgian province of Tao - Klardschetien. Today this area is part of the Turkish province of Artvin. The monastery is located approximately 15 kilometers in a straight line north-east of the provincial capital Artvin.

Parechi is partly a cave monastery, but also includes some stone-built building. The monastery is now destroyed major parts, there are two stone churches ( upper and lower ) and some caves, their functions are still unclear. The Parechi Monastery was built in the 9th or 10th century.
