Parviz Tanavoli

Parviz Tanavoli ( born 1937 in Tehran ) is an Iranian sculptor.

Parviz Tanavoli one of the pioneers of contemporary sculpture in Iran. In addition to his musical life, he works as a scientist, collector and author, and is considered a leading expert on the carpet art in Iran. Since 1989, Parviz Tanavoli lives in Vancouver, Canada.

In his work processed Parviz Tanavoli different aspects of historical and cultural tradition of his country, one of its main themes, the question of " positive and negative space " is ( the nothing ( Heech, hitsch ), which becomes a bit by the creative work of the artist ). Another special topic Tanavolis are castles and their symbolic meaning in the course of Iranian history.

His works have appeared in the permanent collections of the British Museum, London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York to see the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis and the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
