Pasajul Macca-Vilacrosse

Pasajul Macca - Vilacrosse ( German Passage Macca - Villacrosse ) is a fork-shaped, covered with yellow glass arcades street in the center of Bucharest, Romania. Once stood the inn Campineanu at this point.

Description

After the Catalan architect Xavier Vilacrosse married the daughter of the owner of the inn in 1843, the couple received the guest house as a wedding gift and gave him the name of the architect. Towards the end of the 19th century it was demolished and replaced by the still -standing two-story arcade in the Western European style.

The two narrow streets are covered with a glass roof, so they offer both natural light and at the same time protection from the rain. The ground floor was intended for businesses, while the rooms were rented on the first floor. A branch of the passage was called Vilacrosse, while the other Macca was named after Mihalache Macca, the brother of the builder. The two ends open on Calea Victoriei, one of the main streets of the city, the other end in the direction of the National Bank in the Old Town Lipscani.

Between 1950 and 1990, was the passage Pasajul bijuteria (, jeweler Passage '), first in the 2010s he was given the name "Passage Macca - Villacrosse ".

Today, the Passage is home to several dining indoor and outdoor facilities, including the Ägypten-Bar/Restaurant, the Blues Cafe, a bistro, a Chinese restaurant and a wine bar.
