Pasquale Passarelli
Pasquale Passarelli ( born March 14, 1957 in Gambatesa, Italy ) is a former German wrestler.
Life
Pasquale Passarelli lived since the age of six in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. There he began eleven years with the rings as a sport that also by his brothers Thomas ( nine-time German champion) and Claudio (World Champion 1989) was operated.
The Greco-Roman style wrestling Bantamgewichtler ( to 57 kg) won his first national success in 1974 and 1975, when he German youth champion in Greco-Roman. Style in the class to 56 kg body weight and was his first major international success in 1977 with the 3rd place at the Junior World Championships.
The following year, followed by his first German championship in the seniors. It was followed by the title wins in 1979 and 1981. This year he has also secured first World Cup and the European Championship and was voted wrestler of the year and won the Silver bay leaf.
Such highly decorated he joined in 1982 by KSV Wiesentalstrasse to Nuremberg to the then struggling in the 2nd Bundesliga SV St. John's 07, with the team he joined in 1985 in the first Bundesliga, he remained parallel successfully as individual athletes and got 1982, 1983 and 1984 other titles. After relegation in 1988 from the 1st Bundesliga Passarelli left the Johanniser.

His greatest triumph celebrated Pasquale Passarelli at the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In the final, he defeated the Japanese Masaki Eto. Passarelli resisted doing 90 seconds with a bridge attempts Eto to shoulder it. This exceptional performance Passarellis has made a legend of this Olympic wrestling final.
Passarellis hard-won triumph was also honored with the election to the wrestler of the year and the Silver Laurel Leaf. He also received the Golden Camera. As ZDF 2004, the audience was select the athletes of the century, Pasquale Passarelli finished in 92nd place - ahead of celebrities like Günter Netzer, Ricco Gross or Sabine Braun.
Coach
Passarelli was 2001-2005 coach of the wrestler in the Greco-Roman area of the KSV 1952 Bergshausen in the second Bundesliga South. By profession he is real estate agent.
