Passaggio

As Passaggio ( from Italian ) is the term for singing a transition in his voice. Depending on the school of singing and tradition can register the change from breast to mixed voice ( voix mixte ) or to be head voice. In the Italian vocal pedagogy, however, it refers mostly to the transition from " emissione aperta / suono Aperto " (open sound production ) to " emissione coperta / suono coperto " (covered sound production ). The terms " Aperto " (open) and " coperto " ( covered ) are thereby used both in klangästhetischem as well as in physiological- technical sense. Physiologically - technically, the transition from " emissione aperta " to " emissione coperta " primarily describes a lowering of the larynx. When technically poor execution of the passaggio (eg by untrained voices ) it comes here at a fraction of the voice, which manifests itself in bright, high-pitched but also in dull, überlufteten, hoarse, occasionally also in unwanted nasal tones.
