Form

In Cameorollen a number of prominent athletes of the time can be seen: the golf players Helen Dettweiler, Beverly Hanson, Betty Hicks and Babe Didrikson Zaharias Nevell and tennis player Don Budge, Alice Marble, Gussie Moran and Frank Parker.

Katharine Hepburn was an experienced golf and tennis player who had to be replaced for the film at any point by a double. The sports sequences, especially the scenes during the golf competition in which the audience grapes in front of the camera as in a ballet choreography back and herwogen, were among the best of their kind

Spencer Tracy was unusually gifted, complex emotions without words and gestures, that is exclusively expressed in his face. During the competition sequences in which Mike Pat watching, always back and hergeschnitten between Pats golf or tennis game, and Mike's face, causing Tracy's art of expression at least as much in the center of the film is now as Hepburn's athletic prowess.

In the presence of her friend Pat, who actually has as an athlete superhuman size transforms, regularly in a helpless mistress. To illustrate their distorted perception, attacks the government in the relevant scenes repeated for style means of grotesque exaggeration: her tennis opponent is shown with an oversized racket, while Pat's own bat is suddenly very small; the network can be found at dizzying heights; they must fend off not only a ball, but a whole bunch of balls; Weld, before whose judgment Pat is afraid so, sitting in the audience not just once, but at the same time everywhere.
