Pătârlagele

Patarlagele is a town in the Buzău in Romania.

Location

Patarlagele lies in the valley of the river Buzău in the foreland of the Eastern Carpathians. The county seat of Buzău is located about 40 km south-east.

History

Patarlagele was probably founded in the 12th century. The first written evidence dates from the years 1524 to 1527 The origin of the name is unclear.; a theory that was located here in the 13th century, a camp of the Teutonic Knights from the Burzenland. Accordingly, the current name from the words "Peter" and " camp" is to be composed.

The place was at the crossroads of several in the surrounding mountains leading ways and became a local trading center. 2004 Patarlagele was declared a city.

Population

As of the 2002 census, 8,290 inhabitants were in Patarlagele registered, including 2,651 in the city proper and the other in the 14 incorporated towns. 8,251 were Romanians, 27 Roma and Hungary 9.

Traffic

Patarlagele built in 1908 is located on the railway line from Buzău after Nehoiu. Through the city, the National Road 10 of Braşov after Buzău. From Patarlagele regular bus connections to Buzău.
