Pathologic fracture
The pathological fracture ( Syn: spontaneous fracture ) is a bone fracture, the "spontaneous", ie without adequate trauma, occurs due to a disease-related weakening of the bone. In this case, the weakened bone structure both by the train the muscles in everyday movements, as well as by trivial traumas ( which a healthy bone readily withstood would ) break.
Examples of diseases that are the basis of pathological fractures are osteoporosis or bone metastases, rarely, bone tumors (eg, osteoma, osteosarcoma, and others), hyperparathyroidism, osteopetrosis, osteomalacia and plasmozytombedingte osteolysis.
