Patrick Baudry

Patrick Pierre Roger Baudry ( born March 6, 1946 in Douala, Cameroon ) is a French former astronaut.

Baudry was until he was selected in 1980 from 1970, a fighter pilot in the French Air Force by the French space agency CNES as astronaut candidate.

Astronauts activity

Baudry coached two years at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City near Moscow Russian. He was also the replacement of Jean- Loup Chrétien for the mission Soyuz T-6 in 1982.

The flight STS -51- E of the Challenger was canceled due to problems of the IUS upper stage. It should have been exposed to a TDRS satellite. As the occupying Karol Bobko, Donald Williams, Rhea Seddon, David Griggs, Jeffrey Hoffman, the French payload specialist Patrick Baudry and politicians Jake Garn were provided.

STS -51- G

Baudry flew on 17 June 1985 CNES payload specialist in the mission STS -51 -G with the space shuttle Discovery into space. In this communication satellites for Mexico ( Morelos ), the Arab League ( Arabsat ) and the U.S. (AT & T Telstar ) exposed. In addition, the SPARTAN satellite was launched and recaptured after 17 hours.
