Pattonville

Pattonville is a housing development north of Stuttgart in the district of Ludwigsburg, Baden- Württemberg, which is divided between the cities Kornwestheim and Remseck into a western and an eastern part.

History

Pattonville was built in 1954 by the U.S. Army for about 50 million marks. Four officer villas and 52 apartment buildings were built with 936 apartments. The four-star General George Smith Patton Jr. was the inspiration for the name of settlement, which housed up to 3,750 military personnel.

In the summer of 1993, the American army withdrew and the site is used for civilian purposes ever since. The purpose of association Pattonville / Sonnenberg settlement, consisting of the towns of Ludwigsburg, Kornwestheim and Remseck, acquired the entire area on 21 December 1994 for 94.7 million Mark. Since this is a military conversion area, the state of Baden- Württemberg involved in its cities and residential promotion in the expansion and renovation. Seven construction phases were formed. The aim was to create in Pattonville by 2011 modern and well-developed living space for about 7000 people. Currently (2013 ), the settlement about 6000 inhabitants.

The land belonged to 1993, mainly for district Aldingen (municipality Remseck ). The new use as a residential area led to splitting the district. The western part of the city has since been Kornwestheim, the eastern remains of the city Remseck. Therefore, there is administratively considered two of the same neighborhoods that belong to different communities. However, in the education sector both districts form a school district for elementary school Pattonville whose support is the city Remseck. As more schools exist in Pattonville junior high school of the city Remseck and Erich- Bracher School ( Commercial School ) of the district of Ludwigsburg.

Religions

The Protestant community Patton Villes belongs to the Evangelical Church law Church of the City Kornwestheim, the Catholic parish of St. Martin in Kornwestheim. Both denominations celebrate their worship in serving as an ecumenical community center Heilig- Geist-Kirche.

Infrastructure

Pattonville has no direct connection to the railway network, but bus services that connect the area with the railway networks in Kornwestheim, Remseck and Ludwigsburg.

South of the village lies the airfield Pattonville, which was created by the U.S. Army. Today, it is available to the public. Since 2009, the rescue helicopter Christoph 51 is stationed there.

Through the expansion of the center of Pattonville there is a service center, called Patton Point, and a community center.

Sports

The football club SV Pattonville eV was founded in December 2002, and already has 1400 members.
