Patwin people

The Patwin (also Patween or Southern Wintu ) were a Native American tribe who lived on the Sacramento and Feather River in what is now Northern California. They are one of three groups of the Wintu, which was composed of the Patwin, the Nomlaki and the northern Wintu. Your Language Patwin ( Wintu ) belonged to the family of languages ​​of Penutian languages. The Wintu included at the beginning of the 19th century, around 15,000 people; introduced diseases, wars and displacement decimated the tribes about 2500 tribesmen in 1990, living in different Rancherias and outside.
