Paul Albert Zipfel

Paul Albert Zipfel ( born September 22, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States) is a retired bishop of Bismarck.

Life

Paul Albert Zipfel received on 18 March 1961, the ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 May 1989 as Titular Bishop of Walla Walla and auxiliary bishop in St. Louis. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of St. Louis, John Lawrence May, on June 29th of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishops Edward Joseph O'Donnell and James Terry Steib SVD of St. Louis.

On 31 December 1996 he was appointed Bishop of Bismarck and introduced into the office on 20 February 1997. Pope Benedict XVI. adopted on 19 October 2011 at the Paul Albert Zipfel put forward reasons of age resignation.
