Paul Begala

Paul E. Begala ( born May 12, 1961 in New Jersey) is an American political consultant. He gained national prominence as part of the Political Consulting duo Carville and Begala. By June 2005, Begala was a co-host of Crossfire, a political talk show on CNN. He is Research Professor of Public Policy at the Public Policy Institute at Georgetown University.

Begala was born in New Jersey and grew up in Texas. He completed his law studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught a short time before he went to work for Bill Clinton. Begala became known when in 1992 he along with his partner James Carville supported the former Democratic governor of Arkansas in his election as President. After working in Clinton's election campaign, he acted as one of its consultants and as a public speaker. As a staff assistant to the president, he helped in the defense of the Clinton-Gore agenda.
