Paul Comtois

Paul Comtois, PC ( born August 22, 1895 in Pierre Ville, Quebec, † February 21, 1966 in Quebec ) was a Canadian agronomist and politician. From 1957 to 1961 he was progressive - conservative member of the Canadian House of Commons and Minister of Mines, thereafter, until his death, Vice Governor of the province of Quebec.

Biography

Comtois studied at the Université de Montréal and graduated in 1918 as an agronomist from. He practiced his profession on his family's farm in Pierre Ville. In the years 1935/36, he worked as chief estimator of the Canadian Agricultural Commission, then to 1957 as Director of the Association of cooperative banks in the province of Quebec. At the community level, it was as a part time clerk, president of the council and president of the People's Bank. In addition, he was from 1948 to 1961 mayor of Ville Pierre and co-founder of the local agricultural cooperative.

As a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party Comtois stepped up to the general election in 1957 and was elected in the constituency Nicolet - Yamaska ​​; the following year he succeeded in re-election.
