Paul Fournel

Paul Fournel ( born May 20, 1947 in Saint- Étienne, Loire ) is a French writer.

Biography

Fournel was born the son of a bookseller. The age of five he had chosen to write. He studied from 1968 to 1972 literature at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS ) in Saint -Cloud ( Hauts -de -Seine department ); In his thesis he dealt with the life and work of Raymond Queneau.

He then got a job at Hachette Livre, supervised, among others Encyclopædia Universalis and later moved to Éditions Honoré Champion. Between 1982 and 1989 served as editor at the publishing house Éditions Ramsay and thereafter until 1992 Éditions Seghers.

Zwischen1996 and 2000 he Fournel the branch of the Alliance Française in San Francisco. In spring 2000, Minister of Culture Jack Lang sent him as a cultural attaché to Cairo.

During his work in the publishing learned Fournel François Le Lionnais, the founder of the Writers' Association Oulipo know, and joined this group to. Since 2003 he is the 3rd President of Oulipo.

He is married and has two children who were born in 1979 and 1983.
