Paul G. Comba

Paul G. Comba ( born 1926 in Italy ) is an Italian- American astronomer. He discovered to date (August 2013), more than 650 asteroids and thus takes 25th place in the list of asteroid explorer.

At the age of 20 he went in 1946 with a scholarship to the California Institute of Technology, where he received his doctorate in mathematics at Frederic Bohnenblust 1951. After his doctorate, he taught mathematics at the University of Hawaii until 1960. Afterwards he moved as a software developer for IBM. He developed a computer program for the named after him Comba multiplication and received the 2003 Leslie C. Peltier Award for his contributions to astronomy. He currently heads the Prescott Observatory in Arizona.

He is the author of the Astronomical League 's Asteroid Observing Guide Club, and a member of the Prescott Astronomy Club.

The asteroid ( 7636 ) Comba was named after him.
