Paul Günther

Paul Guenther ( born October 24, 1882 in Hannover, † 1945 in Duisburg ) was a German diver and Olympic champion.

Life

Paul Guenther was one of four German jumpers, the Stockholm dominated the art of jumping at the Olympic Games in 1912. He won ahead of Hans Luber, Kurt Behrens and defending champion Albert Wroth. The tower Günther qualified for the finals though, but did not start there. The superiority of the German water in Springer 's springboard was instrumental in the initial formation of the German gymnastics. Since diving in Germany, first held in 1925 as Championship discipline, this superiority but appeared only in the competitions from the three- meter board.

Paul Guenther in 1910, 1911, 1912 and 1920 German champion in springboard diving. His last title he won for the amateur swimming club Duisburg. In 1988 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
