Paul Ivano

Paul Ivano; actually Pavle Ivanisevic ( born May 13, 1900 in Nice, France, † April 9, 1984 in Los Angeles, California ) was a French cinematographer.

Life

Paul Ivano learned the camera craft in the U.S. Army. He is considered the first cameraman who filmed from a helicopter. From 1923 Ivano worked as director of photography. Recognition he gained with his aerial photographs for Hell's Angels, directed by Howard Hughes. In subsequent years, the films for which he served as director of photography were mostly second-rate. His ability to design of aerial photographs, however, resulted in orders for helicopter shots in a complex designed productions such as daring alibi by Robert Siodmak. In his last years in the profession Ivano was practically engaged exclusively for films of extremely meager quality.
