Paul Joseph Mukungubila Mutombo

Paul Joseph Mukungubila Mutombo, also known as Gideon Mukungubila ( born December 26, 1947 in Kalemie ) is a free evangelical pastor, televangelist and self-proclaimed prophet of the eternal in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is a Luba from Kabalo in Katanga province.

Career

The former soldier Mukungubila lives in Lubumbashi. As a prophet of the eternal, televangelist and social media, he pursued his alleged divine mission to save the Congo. Even if he satisfies spiritual needs among his followers in the first place, his diatribes are often politically charged and violent. He focuses on the one hand against the Tutsis and Rwandans, on the other hand against President Joseph Kabila. At its predecessor Laurent- Désiré Kabila, however, he had a good relationship, so he from 1992 to 1994 also had a weekly television program, which contributed much to his reputation.

Mukungubila was one of 33 presidential candidates in the presidential election in 2006, but it reached only 0.35 % of the vote.

Attacks of December 30, 2013

On December 30, 2013 attacked about 100 men who identified themselves as supporters Mukungubilas, the Ndjili airport in the province of Kinshasa and the base of the General Staff. They also occupied for several hours the airport of Kindu and the state's distance vision RTNC through which they could proclaim, " Gideon Mukungubila has come to set you free from the slavery of Rwandans. " This is a statement, referring to the widespread rumor of the opposition, President Kabila was not Congolese, Rwandans but relates. In the attacks, there were at least 55 dead, including three on the part of security forces.

When riots in Lubumbashi between supporters Mukungubilas and security forces on the same day, there were 28 injured and 35 to 70 dead.
