Paul Revere & the Raiders

Paul Revere & the Raiders were an American rock band.

History

Paul Revere (born 7 January 1938) first worked as a hairdresser. Later, he ran his own drive-in restaurant in Boise, Idaho.

As he had learned as a child piano and organ playing, he entered in his spare time on a small band. Beginning of the 1960s he met Mark Lindsay know, surrendering the bread to Paul's Restaurant. Mark became the new lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders band called 1961 and they got a record contract. The debut single was called Like Long Hair and arrived in the U.S. at number 38 of the charts.

Meanwhile, Paul Revere & the Raiders had in mind as a special gag in the occurrence Uniforms of the American War of Independence. In the following years, the quintet of small clubs played in the country until the night clubs of San Francisco. By 1969, the band released a number of successes. Then Mark Lindsay decided to try his luck as a soloist. However, he had only modest success, and in 1971 came back to the band back, now, however, only called The Raiders. Paul Revere had retired from active affairs and only made ​​the business side, while Lindsay was henceforth responsible for the artistic concerns. In this formation the band had its biggest hit Indian Reservation, which reached # 1 on the charts in the U.S. and with over four million copies sold was the biggest million-seller in the plate history of the label, Columbia Records.

The mid- 1970s, the group disappeared from the charts.
