Paul Yoshigoro Taguchi

Paul Yoshigoro Cardinal Taguchi (Japaneseパウロ 田口 芳五郎, Pauro Taguchi Yoshigoro; born July 20, 1902 in Sotome (now Nagasaki ), Japan, † 23 February 1978 in Osaka ) was Archbishop of Osaka.

Life

Paul Yoshigoro Taguchi comes as his colleague Joseph Asajirō Satowaki from the parish shitsu in the former Sotome (2005 amalgamated to Nagasaki ).

He studied in Rome, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. He received on 22 December 1928, the sacrament of Holy Orders and, after further study in 1931 community chaplain in the Archdiocese of Tokyo and teacher at the local seminary. From 1936 to 1940 he was personal secretary to the Apostolic Delegate in Japan.

1940 Pope Pius XII appointed him. Apostolic Administrator in 1941 as Bishop of Osaka. From 1941 to 1962 Paul Yoshigoro Taguchi managed additionally the Shikoku Prefecture. In the years 1962 to 1965, he took part in the Second Vatican Council. Pope Paul VI. took him in 1973 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria in Via in the College of Cardinals to. Paul Yoshigoro Taguchi died on 23 February 1978 in Osaka and was buried in the local cathedral.
