The Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co KG is a brewery in Munich.

History

The name of the Paulaner brewery refers to the resident at the Neuhauser Straße in Munich Paulaner Order, which was founded by Francis of Paola, whose image adorns the Paulaner logo.

The monks of the Pauline order brewed since 1634 beer for their own use. The Paulaner beer that could be served publicly on the feast days of the order's founder, was a Bock beer, which gained local fame soon. The recipe of this strong beer should go back to the brew master Valentin Stephan Still, who joined in 1774 as " Brother Barnabas " from the Paulaner monastery Amberg to Munich. After this, the figure of today's Nockherberg " preacher " is named (see below).

After the abolition of the Pauline monastery Neudeck in 1799 the monastery buildings were now located in Munich's Au district, in a penitentiary (until 2009 Penitentiary Neudeck ) converted. 1813 acquired the brewer Franz Xaver Zacherl the former brewery of the cloister and led the Bock Beer tradition from now on under the name Salvator on. 1861 Salvator cellar was opened on Located close to the brewery Nockherberg.

In 1928 it merged with the Gebrüder Thomas brewery in Munich on Paulaner Salvator Thomas Bräu. In 1994 it was transformed into the Paulaner Brauerei AG, which was again converted to Paulaner GmbH and Co. KG in 1999.

Brewery Group

For the next Paulaner Paulaner Brewery Group include the breweries AuerBräu in Rosenheim, Regensburg and the Weißbierbrauerei Hopf Miesbach and the beer brands Hacker-Pschorr and Thurn and Taxis.

The brewing water is pumped from deep wells with 240 meters deep to light.

Oktoberfest

Paulaner supplies at the Munich Oktoberfest three large festival halls: The Armbrustschützenzelt, the beetle and the meadow inn Winzerer Fähndl. The latter is the tent of the brewery and was with the new 2010, the first Wiesnzelt beer with central ring line, which provides all taverns.
