Paulina Rubio

Paulina Rubio Dosamantes ( born June 17, 1971 in Mexico City) is a Mexican singer of Latin Pop.

Rubio is the daughter of Susana Dosamantes, a Mexican actress. Her father, Enrique Rubio comes from A Coruña in Galicia. Their music is mostly very well known in Spain, Latin America and in the U.S. under the Spanish speaking population.

She began her career in 1980 at the age of nine years. Your debut appearance was in a music group called Timbiriche, she belonged from 1982 to 1991 and with whom she recorded about ten cassettes. In the same group sang from 1986 to 1989, the singer and actress Sasha Sökol.

Then Rubio began performing in telenovelas in Mexican television actress. Her first television role was in 1988 in the series Pasión y Poder ( Passion and Power).

In 1991, Rubio left Timbiriche and focused on her solo career. In the same year she starred in Baila Conmigo. In 1994 she had her first appearance in Mexican cinema in the film Bésame en la Boca and 1995 in Pobre Niña Rica.

In 1992, she released her first solo CD La Chica Dorada, 1993 24 Kilates, 1995 El Tiempo, it oro, 1996 Planeta Paulina Paulina and 2000. The album Paulina has been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards in 2000 for a Grammy. In 2002, she released her first English album with Border Girl. With their 2004 release album Pau - latina Rubio received the Spanish equivalent of the Grammy, the Premio Lo Nuestro for best female artist of the year.
