Pavel Mareš

Pavel Mares ( born January 18, 1976 in Otrokovice ) is a former Czech football player.

Career

Mares played in his youth for Jiskra Otrokovice, VTJ Hulin and Baník Ratíškovice. In early 1997, he joined the then second division side FC Zlín, where he was relegelmäßig used in defense. In early 1999 he went to Bohemians Prague, where he became one of the best left-back in the Czech Republic. The escaped neither coach Karel Brückner, who had him make his debut in a friendly against Hungary on 12 February 2002, nor Sparta Prague, which had signed him in January 2002. In Sparta, however Mares remained only a year and in early 2003 moved to Zenit St. Petersburg, at that time, his former coach Vlastimil Petržela trained. There Mares belonged to the tribe and made 78 games and nine goals in three years.

End of August 2006 stood Mares before a move to Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League, but ultimately failed to physical tests. In early 2007 moved to Sparta Prague Mares. For the first team but he completed only two games and was otherwise used in the B- team. End of January 2009 sparked Sparta the Treaty on the defender. Early February 2009, moved to second division side FC Mares Highlands Jihlava. Since 2010 Mares plays for the fifth-tier FC Přední Kopanina.

National

Mares was a member of both the squad for the 2004 European Championships, as well as the for the 2006 World Cup.
