Pax Imperia: The Star Colony (English Original Title: Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain) is a US-based real-time strategy game from 1997 and successor to the 1992 published turn-based strategy game Pax Imperia.

Description

In Pax Imperia: The star colony can be race, adjust the size of the galaxy, spaceship design on your own preferences. One can choose from a total of eight races. It applies technologies such as laser weapons and shields to explore, build fleets to establish space colonies, expand and protect against attacks. The administration of the colonies can be automated. The colonies can be gradually expanded and fortified. The space battles are fought in real time. The player is free through peaceful colonization or conquest to build a Star Empire.

Unlike its predecessor, the game you can travel by wormholes other star systems only. These wormholes and jump points forming a real transportation network through space. On the planet prevail different atmospheres that do not inhabit every race and therefore can colonize.

The game is based on its constitution and the game mechanics forth to Master of Orion 2 from the year 1996.

History of development

In 1995, Blizzard Entertainment announced in collaboration with Changeling Software (later renamed Heliotrope Studios ) that they were working together on a sequel to the 1992 released turn-based strategy game Pax Imperia, which should be available around Christmas for the PC and Macintosh. However, for market- strategic reasons Blizzard Entertainment did not create internal competition with StarCraft, so the rights were sold to THQ in August 1996. THQ turn instructed the Heliotrope Studios with the completion of the game. 1997 Pax Imperia Pax Imperia 2 as: Eminent Domain released for the PC and Macintosh.

2013, the rights to Pax Imperia acquired as part of the break-up of THQ along with other titles from the Swedish publisher Nordic Games.
