Pazarcık

Pazarcık (Kurdish Bazarcix ) is a small town and a district in the province of Kahramanmaras in Turkey with a population of 29,000 (2012 ).

The region's history goes far back into the Roman Empire. Pazarcık was inhabited throughout the times by different peoples since the arrival of the Turks in the 11th century, Turcoman tribes in Pazarcık up operations. Pazarcık belonged to the Ottoman Empire in the Vilayet of Aleppo. 1877 Pazarcık to a judicial district ( Kaza ) was collected and in 1917 established a mayor. Since the time the Town Hall was too small, a few kilometers in 1938 was further built on a railway line, a new town hall. In 1941, the county seat by the then -i Kebir Bağdir (today Ulubahçe ) to Bağdin -i Sagir - relocated to today's Pazarcık. Today, there are next to the parish Pazarcık with Büyüknacar, Evri, NARLI and Yumaklıcerit four more municipalities ( Belediye ), 77 villages ( Koy ) and 94 hamlets.

Near the city is located at the only river of the district of Kartalkaya Reservoir, which supplies the surrounding villages with drinking water and water for agriculture.

The population consists mainly of Kurds; traditionally live here, many Alevis. The region is also known for clashes between the PKK and the Turkish military.
