PC-MOS/386

PC-MOS/386 is an able to multi- process mode, multi-user operating system for IBM-compatible PCs in the U.S. company "The Software Link " ( Norcross, Georgia). In Germany it was sold by the " COMPUCON Germany GmbH" ( Eschenried ). The abbreviation " MOS" stands for " Modular Operating System". PC - MOS is the evolution of multi-user system " Multilink ".

Properties

PC-MOS/386 is compatible with the MS DOS operating system and can make existing DOS applications available for multiple users. Installation is possible on computers with the Intel 80386 processor. Computer with the 80286 can also be used ( by Canadian company "ALL Computers" ) via a built- CHARGE card.

PC - MOS, there were more than a process- enabled single-user version and a multi-user version for 5 or 25 users. For local networking and host connection, the additional products " LANLink " and " EmuLink " were offered.

PC - MOS can not handle multiple processes simultaneously on the screen, so only one of the programs is always displayed, the remaining running in the background.
