Peabody wants 2010 to take over the Australian coal producer Macarthur and has mid-April 2010 increased its takeover bid for the second time. Now there are 16 Australian dollars per share in cash offer, which corresponds to a total cost of 4.1 billion U.S. dollars ( 2.8 billion euros ) and outdoes the competition offered by the Australian coal company New Hope Coal.
