Peasants and New Democratic Party Union

The Valstiečių ir Naujosios demokratijos partijų sąjunga ( VNDS, German: Union of Farmers 'Party and New Democracy Party ), is a Lithuanian party, which was formed on 15 December 2001 by the merger of the Lithuanian Peasants' Party with the party of the new democracy. It was the 3rd Party Congress in December 2005 Lietuvos Valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga ( lvls, German Lithuanian peasants and People's Union ) renamed.

Party chairman was in the four years of the party Casimire PRUNSKIENE who had previously led the party of the new democracy. Reason for the merger was the bad results of both parties in the parliamentary elections in autumn 2000.

In the parliamentary elections of 2004, the VNDS received 6.6% of the second votes for a total of 10 seats in the 141 seats comprehensive Lithuanian Parliament. The VNDS became the majority buyer of government Brazauskas, woman PRUNSKIENE received the Ministry of Agriculture.
