Peder Skram

Peder Skram (* 1491-1503 in Urup in Horsens, † July 11, 1581 ) was a Danish naval hero Admiral and the 16th century.

Peder Skram was born on the estate of his family in Jutland. He was a soldier in 1518 in the service of King Christian II of Denmark in the war against Sweden for the first time in action and took part in the 1520 Battle of Uppsala, where he has been awarded an estate in Norway for his contributions on the Danish side.

While the Count feud he gained a reputation as a national hero as Admiral of the Danish fleet. He came on behalf of Denmark to Sweden under Gustav I Vasa, which deals with King Christian III. had allied of Denmark, against the fleet of the Wendish towns of the Hanseatic League, under the leadership of Lübeck to help. The Lübeck had turned as allies of King Christian II against Wasa, because he had disappointed the Lübeck as its original allies in their expectation on Swedish trade privileges. Peder Skram defeated first on 9 June 1535 consisting of 33 ships of a fleet a small Hanseatic fleet patrolling near the island of Bornholm, and then in the majority of Lübeck fleet at the Battle of Svendborg in Svendborg Sund before Funen. This battle was the real decisive battle of the longer -lasting feud with the Earl Christian III. the victory over the Hanseatic Lübeck under leadership won.

In the three crown Peder Skram war was reactivated by King Frederick II of Denmark again as admiral and commander in chief of the Danish fleet. In 1562 he met on Gotland on the superior fleet of Sweden under the Admiral Jakob Bagge. At the end of the year Skram, however, was replaced by the Admiral Herluf trolls.
