Called The Karl scepter ( Pedicularis sceptrum - carolinum ), also moor king or king -Karls- lice herb that belongs to the genus lousewort ( Pedicularis ).

Description

The perennial herbaceous plant reaches heights of growth between 20 and 100 centimeters. The leaves are pinnate. The rosette constant basal leaves reach lengths of 30 cm. The flowers are in a dense many-flowered raceme. The whitish yellow crown is 30 mm long. The upper lip is cleaved, the lower lip shows a reddish border.

Bloom time is from June to August.

Occurrence

The species preferred low-and intermediate Moore. In Germany, the plant is almost exclusively found in the Alpine foothills and strictly protected. In Austria, the plant occurs in the vicinity of shoots only in Edlacher Moor.
