Pedro A. Sanchez

Pedro A. Sanchez ( born 1940 in Cuba ) is a Cuban- American soil scientist. He is director of the Tropical Agriculture and Rural Environment Program and Director of the Millennium Villages Project at Columbia University. He is also Emeritus Professor of Soil Science and Forestry at North Carolina State University and was from 1991 to 2001 director of the World Agroforestry Centre.

Sanchez is the winner of the World Food Prize 2002. 2003 he was MacArthur Fellow.

His book, Properties and Management of Soils of the Tropics is among the 10 best-selling books in the world scientific ground.
