Pedro Alcázar

Pedro Alcázar ( born August 29, 1975 in Zapayal, Darién, † June 24, 2002 in Las Vegas ) was a Panamanian professional boxer.

Alcázar started his professional career in 1995. In June 2001, he won the world title of WBO Super Flyweight against Adonis Rivas. After he had to take a series of body blows in the sixth round, the referee this fight eventually broke off. At follow-up no signs of trauma were observed. Finally, two days later, he broke into his hotel room together and was subsequently admitted to the hospital, but the doctors could do nothing for him. He died on the same day as the result of a head injury, which was not detected after the fight.
