Pedro Cea

José Pedro Cea ( born September 1, 1900 in Redondela, Pontevedra, Spain or Arroyo Seco, Montevideo, Uruguay, † September 18, 1970 in Montevideo) was an Uruguayan footballer who occupied the position of striker.

Playing career

Association

During his playing career, the 1.72 meter tall striker played Cea, the " Vasco " (Eng.: Basque ) was called for Centro Atlético Lito, Bella Vista and the Club Nacional de Football of Montevideo. As in the years 1922/1923 to the schism - the division of the organizational structure of the Uruguayan football - came, stood in rows Cea Litos on the side Héctor Castro, another successful football player who emerged from this club. The club was divided on the two now existing associations and entered into the newly formed Federación Uruguaya de Football ( FUF ), as well as in the previous Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF), each with a team. National

Cea was also a member of the Uruguayan national football team. Overall, he graduated from his debut on November 4, 1923 until his last game for the Celeste on December 4, 1932 27 international matches in which he scored 13 goals. Cea won with the National Team in each case the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1924 and 1928. Too, he was involved in winning the football World Cup 1930. In all three major tournaments he never missed a single game and is the only Uruguayan player to have managed.

A trainer

In the years 1941-1942 he worked as a coach of the Uruguayan national team and assisted them in the South American Championship in 1942, when Uruguay won the title.

After the career

After he finished his career as a footballer, he also worked as a radio commentator on the side of Dalton Rosas Riolfo in the Tierra de Campeones shipment. His remains were laid to rest in the club headquarters of Nacional.
